ABOUT

This site is intended to help anyone working in ministry to report better stories of God’s work in their corner of the world. We believe great journalism engages the global Church and thus furthers the Great Commission. We believe there are thousands of incredible stories waiting to be told. And we believe in helping people find and report those stories — to “tell everyone about the amazing things he does” (Psalms 96:3).

We are:

I’ve been a journalist for more than 35 years. Over those years, that heading has included the titles of reporter, writer, editor, photographer, videographer and designer. I’ve worked for daily newspapers, magazines, websites and more. For 17 years I taught journalism and served as faculty adviser for the Northern Star, the daily student newspaper at Northern Illinois University, training hundreds of student journalists. In 2012, I left that position to pursue freelance writing and missionary journalism and help start a site called Crossfield News. I’ve reported stories of God at work in the Middle East, Central America, Africa, Europe and Asia. During that time I also co-authored Go Tell It (2014, Moody Publishers). Today I serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators. My wife, Lauren, and I live in Rockford, Illinois. We have three grown kids and four grandkids.

Linc-Publicity-Photo-300x300I’ve been a journalist for 25 years. After cutting my teeth as a sportswriter and general assignment reporter in central Wisconsin in the early ’90s, I went on to edit a small daily paper in Illinois. I then served as an editor for several trade magazines, which offered me the chance to work in Europe and China — my first foray into international reporting. In 2004, I felt a strong call to do full-time reporting about Christian missions work and founded Called and Sent Magazine, an online missions news site that I ran as part of First Love International Ministries. From there, I served as a journalist for ReachGlobal. In that position, I traveled and reported on stories worldwide as an editor, reporter, photographer and videographer for Crossfield News. My wonderful wife, Ann, and I have three daughters and live in Texas.
