TRAINING

We believe journalism is one key to fulfilling Jesus’ Great Commission. Why? Effectively reporting stories of God at work in the world reveals his glory. High-quality written stories, photos, video, audio and social media inspire the Church to celebrate and engage in his work.

“Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.” — Psalm 96:3 / 1 Chronicles 16:24 (NLT)

“Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, ‘Blessed are the eyes that see what you have seen. I tell you, many prophets and kings longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.’”  — Luke 10:23-24 (NLT)

We’ll train you to report stories, photos and videos that pose two huge questions to audiences: What is God up to, and how can I get in on it? If you don’t tell these stories, who will?

“In the past, we didn’t tell these stories because we were afraid that our culture would see it as bragging. It’s not bragging. It’s telling other people about our God. Writing and reporting is a great way to glorify God.”

“A report is like a bridge. There are people working with us (from a distance) but they cannot be here and see the things we see. We can show them everyday life and ministry here. This will help our partners fellowship with us.”

— Africa attendee, 2016

Training for churches / short-term teams: Your church’s short-term mission team has a great field experience. But when they return, something gets lost in translation. Ineffective storytelling can destroy your trip’s impact on the people back home. That means a lost opportunity to engage them in what God is doing.  But … what if your teams could receive pre-trip training in how to recognize and report great stories, and how to report them effectively back home? What kind of energy could that infuse into your congregation? What kinds of long-term relationships could it motivate? How could it help your church make disciples?
